Crunches And Sit Ups Don't Answer How To Get Rid Of Belly Fat


Whether or not you’re a regular at the local gym, you’ve probably heard some guys claim that they blast their abs with hundreds of sit-ups a day in an attempt to get their midsection ripped. Well, bully for them. Chances are they wouldn’t be putting on airs about their number of reps if they really knew how to get rid of belly fat.

That’s the problem with most of us who seriously strive to acquire the coveted six-pack. We feel that the more effort we put in, the better the chances we have of actually getting those magazine-front-cover-slash-centerfold-worthy abs. So we spend most of our time in the gym torturing ourselves with countless sit-ups, crunches, twists, leg raises, and what have you, to lose belly fat quick. Sometimes even several times a day!

By thinking that the answer to how to get rid of belly fat lies in pushing ourselves to the brink of fatigue and exhaustion, we actually doom ourselves to frustration and failure. Working hard is only half of the equation. We also need to work smart.

Pros

Speed. Fat-burners absolutely own this pro. Natural ways to lose belly fat plead no contest. There's simply no denying the fact that these dietary supplements work fast, delivering results at a fraction of the time it takes diet or exercise to achieve tangible results. Some fat-burners are more potent than others too; most take a couple of days to manifest, while a select few can have you staring at your ribs the morning after you started taking them.

Ease. Another sure point for supplements. Popping a couple of pills every day is a whole lot easier than lifting weights, running in circles, and keeping tabs on what you eat. And a jar of supplements is a whole lot cheaper than a few months' membership at a quality gym.

Boost. Fat-burners tend to make people more alert, more focused, and more energetic due to their unique blend of ingredients. Used with care, these pills could jump start your day and keep you productive throughout the week.

Cons

Side effects. Of course, these pills aren't perfect, and all their effects aren't exactly beneficial...or safe, for that matter. The side effects of fat-burners range anywhere from irritability, anxiety, loss of sleep, and palpitations to a full blown heart attack. Don't know about you, but I'd rather keep my flab than tempt death.

Temp. Sure they work fast, but these supplements burn out just as quickly. And when their effects wear off, you get back all you lost – with interest. If you think you were fat before taking the pills, try checking your reflection once you've stopped taking them for a week or so. Talk about a temp job.

Atrophy. If you've been using these pills as an excuse not to keep active, then you can count on losing whatever muscles you had before you started popping pills on a regular basis. Keep in mind that as effectively as these pills can answer the question of how to get rid of belly fat, so too can they answer the unasked question of how to lose muscle mass.

For every condition there is a cure. For every cure there is a division. And for every division there is always a debate. Such holds true even when it comes to the issue of how to get rid of belly fat.

The condition: Belly fat.

The cure: Getting rid of it.

The division:

1) Diet and exercise as natural ways to lose belly fat, and

2) artificially-created, mass-produced fat-burning pills, which commonly go by the name “dietary supplements”.

The debate: Which betters answers how to get rid of belly fat?

Now that everything has been properly defined, how do we go about crowning the victor of this debate? Since I'm a big fan of tradition, let's do it the old-fashioned way: a pro and con list.
